Keith A. Kuenzler, MD
Dr. Kuenzler graduated from Duke University in 1992 and received his MD from Jefferson Medical College in 1997. He completed his residency training in General Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, in Philadelphia, in 2004. During his residency, Dr. Kuenzler spent two years in the research laboratory at DuPont Hospital for Children investigating intestinal adaptation after ischemia-reperfusion injury and the administration of growth factors to ameliorate inflammatory bowel disease. He completed his fellowship training in Pediatric Surgery at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian in 2006. Dr. Kuenzler then joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Surgery.
His clinical practice includes all aspects of general pediatric surgery, with particular interests in neonatal surgery, pediatric thoracic surgery, chest wall deformities, and minimally invasive surgery. With his partner, Dr. Arkovitz, he performed Children's Hospital of NY's first thoracoscopic surgeries for congenital diaphragmatic hernia and bronchopulmonary sequestration.
Dr. Kuenzler's academic focus is in surgical resident education. He has designed the Columbia Surgery residency curriculum for Pediatric Surgery, which includes a web-based video library of children's surgical procedures.
