Meet the Family Advisory Council
(Jun 29, 2007) The Family Advisory Council-a group of committed parents who are passionate about helping our Hospital provide the best family-centered care-has been doing some phenomenal work in the two years since its initiation and has become an integral part of our organization. Family Advisory Council members sit on the Hospital's Pediatric Quality Council; they've just been invited to be members of our Ethics Committee; and they recently made presentations with Hospital staff at NACHRI and NICHQ. They are in the process of developing a family guide and a parent-to-parent support group in the neonatal intensive care unit through which current parents are paired with parents who are graduates for guidance and support. Parents and family members can provide invaluable insight, information and guidance to enhance the experience of hospitalized children and their families. This can be accomplished through participation on hospital committees, in focus groups, through participation in surveys, or involvement with events or meetings.
