Nurse Graduate Internship Commencement, August 14, in Wintergarden
(Aug 5, 2008)
Established in 2002, the New Graduate Internship Program provides new graduates in nursing with a one-year internship. Selected candidates must meet strict academic requirements and complete a panel-interview selection process in order to qualify for a position.
The Internship Program is an excellent opportunity for the new graduate to learn and develop clinical competencies in a supportive mentoring environment, combining clinical rotations, didactic lectures, presentations and mini rotations through areas of special interest.
Through this program, Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital is meeting the challenge to attract top graduates to our Hospital, who are then superbly prepared to provide quality patient care.
Lori Armstrong, RN, MSN, Vice President, Nursing and Patient Care Services, Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, and Myra Franklin, RN, CNS, Coordinator, Internship Program, presided over the commencement. Congratulations to Nurse Intern Graduates:
Clarissa Barbon, RNClarissa's internship rotations included the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, 6T Cardiology/Neurology, and 9T Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. She says the internship helped her to develop a "comprehensive scope of pediatric care" and a "solid foundation upon which to build and keep learning." Clarissa will be working in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.
Sara Danziger, RNSara interned on 6 T Cardiology/Neurology, the Post Anesthesia Care Unit and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit . "The internship program gives a good foundation to build on and enables new grads to integrate into the PICU," she says. Sara joined the Hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in April.
Anne Douglas, RNThe intern experience provided Ann with the opportunity to work on the 5T Hematology/Oncology Unit and in the Pediatric Emergency Department. Anne says she "truly enjoyed all the units" and the experiences for "learning, confidence building, and skill enhancement." Anne will be working in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
Amanda Flood, RNDuring her internship, Amanda's rotation included the 4T Medical/Surgical Unit and the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Amanda says the experiences provided a "wonderful transition from an academic environment to a stimulating career." Amanda will be working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Joyce Gee, RNThe internship gave Joyce the opportunity to experience the 6T/Cardiology/Neurology Unit and the 4T/8C Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit. According to Joyce, "not only does the internship help to prepare us for the PICU/PCICU as confident, able nurses, it also provides the group of orientees with a unique type of social support that cannot be found anywhere." Joyce will be working in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
Andrea Hester, RNAndrea experienced the Ambulatory Hematology/Oncology Clinic, the 4T/8C Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit and the PCICU during the internship. Andrea says her role models are Carrie Siedlik, Cheryl Casamento and Nancy McMahon who demonstrated "the responsibilities, accomplishments and joys that come with working as a nurse." Andrea will be working in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
Rachael D. Hutt, RNRachael's internship experiences were on the 6T Cardiology/Neurology Unit, 4T/8C Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit, and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Rachael will be joining the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit team.
Carol Ann Kenific, RNCarol Ann worked on the 4T/8C Pediatric Medical/Surgical Unit and the 6T Cardiology/Neurology Unit.
