Pulmonology (Lung Disease)

Why Choose Us for Your Child's Care

  • Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital is one of the few centers in the New York metropolitan area able to measure and monitor lung function in children of any age -- including infants (using special equipment for those tiny patients).
  • The Sarah E. Nash Children's Lung Center and Sue and John L. Weinberg Cystic Fibrosis Center, together, is a tertiary center for the full range of acute and chronic respiratory diseases in infants, children, and adolescents. Specialists have expertise in the treatment of asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung injury, recurrent pneumonia and disorders of respiratory control.
  • The center's Exercise Physiology Laboratory is among the few in the Northeast dedicated to children and adolescents that is capable of non-invasive measurement of heart and lung function during progressive exercise.
  • The Pulmonology division has the ability to perform flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy in infants and children of any age. This can usually be done on an ambulatory basis. Working with the Department of Anesthesiology, these are performed under conditions felt to be safest for the patient, yet allowing the child to breathe spontaneously and improve the diagnostic yield of the procedure.
